Abstract:

This study aimed to predict obsession based on intellectual rumination and cognitive flexibility in housewives in Hamadan. The method of this research was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population was all housewives referred to health centers in Hamadan in 2017. A final sample of 280 was selected by stratified relative sampling. In this way, according to the number of housewives referring to health centers in each district of the city, a number of them were selected as samples. For data collection, Maudsley obsessive-compulsive disorder questionnaire, rumination response questionnaire, and acceptance and practice questionnaire- second version- were used. Findings showed a positive and significant relationship between intellectual rumination and the obsession of housewives, but there was a significant negative relationship between cognitive flexibility and the obsession of housewives. Another finding was that intellectual rumination and cognitive flexibility could explain obsessive-compulsive disorder in housewives.
