A review of the feasibility of redesigning a livable street aims to improve vitality (Shariati St., between the Qolhak junction to the intersection of Kolahdooz St.)

The streets are one of the major spaces for creating social interactions, increasing the public presence, and thus promoting viability and vitality of the urban environment, unfortunately, today, due to the ignorance of the qualitative desirability increase of the streets for people presence and more attention to automobiles crossing, the share of this urban space is pollution increase, safety reduction, unsociability and the loss of vitality and viability. The main purpose of this research is to investigate Shariati street based on vitality criteria and try to create a livable and sustainable street. Items like: designing urban pedestrian spaces, designing urban open spaces convenient for human activities and interactions, reducing traffic and increasing green spaces have been taken into consideration. Therefore, this research was an attempt to answer these main questions: How can Shariati Street be designed based on vitality approaches to become a livable street? What are the standards of vitality that can be today implemented in this street? The basic and required information of this research was obtained through library studies and searches of available documents and upstream plans. Field observations include the presence in the studied area, photography, and field collection of comprehensive information. The analysis and evaluation of the situation of the investigated zone have been conducted by SWOT, QSPM, IFE, and EFE tables. qualitative components of the street were explored by the authors. In the SWOT table, the strengths and weaknesses were mentioned, and stages were scored and prioritized; then, 5 strategies were developed, based on the project goals and obtained analyzes. Then, the strategies were finally prioritized in the QSPM table, and some policies were presented for each strategy.
