Effect of Professional Ethics Education on Knowledge and Ethical Sensitivity of Nursing Students
This study aimed to determine the effect of professional ethics education on nursing students' knowledge and ethical sensitivity.
This semi-experimental study was carried out by post and pretest design in the second half of 2021-2022 in Islamic Azad University of Shahrekord, Iran. Thirty sophomore nursing students who had the nursing ethics course and did not have a formal education in ethics in the past year were selected by the available sampling method. Data were collected by knowledge of nursing professional ethics and the ethical sensitivity of nurses' questionnaires and were analyzed using paired T-test through SPSS 22 software.
There was a significant difference between the mean score of professional ethics knowledge of nursing students before (12.33±2.44) and after (15.40±2.23) training (p<0.001). There was a significant difference between the mean score of ethical sensitivity of nursing students' before (86.10±6.34) and after (93.86±4.49) training (p<0.001).
Professional ethics training by formal education courses increases the nurses’ ethical awareness and sensitivity.
