Pathology of Graduated Students’ Research Activities at I.R.I Army Command and Staff University

Abstract:
The secret of sustainability in today's world is power based on research and production of science. In other words, the production of science and technology is the most important factor in the progress of countries and a serious tool for competition in different world arenas. In this regard, the advancement of the scientific and technical capabilities of the armed forces is also largely related to the implementation of research. The present study aimed to pathology of graduated students’ research activities at I.R.I Army Command and Staff University (DAFOOS) based on mixed method. The statistical population includes experts and senior executives of research in DAFOOS, AJA’s Strategic Studies Center and Theoretical Researches Center, who are senior officers with more than 10 years of research experience. 10 people was selected for the interview as well as 30 people for the expert-based questionnaire. The interview and questionnaire were validified by using the content method. The reliability of the interview was calculated 92% by using the percentage agreement measures. The reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed with Cronbach's alpha coefficient )0.896(. Qualitative data were analyzed by thematic analysis method and quantitative data by Vikor method in MATLAB software to prioritize the pathology of student research activities. The results showed that the damages of graduated students’ research activities in order of priority are: structural damages (with a significance of 5.690), environmental damages (with a significance of 5.552) and behavioral damages (with a significance of 5.379). In addition, the most priority components have been among behavioral damages in the order of research skills, decision-making skills, and personality traits; among the structural damages in the order of planning, software and hardware infrastructures and rules and procedures; and among the environmental damages, the foundations and culture of research, credits and resources, and interactions and communications.
