Training Needs Assessment of Health Care Staff of a Military Organization

Human resources training and planning for in-service training is one of the needs of any organization. The aim of this study was to need assessment the training of a military organization's healthcare staff.

This is an applied descriptive study in a qualitative-quantitative method. In the qualitative phase, the required data as a needs assessment study were analyzed by qualitative content analysis of organizational documents and Delphi technique with the participation of 20 university experts and staff. The statistical population in the quantitative phase consisted of: managers and experts of the queue, 100 samples were selected by purposive sampling. In a quantitative phase, the researcher-made questionnaires with validity and reliability were surveyed; the training needs of healthcare staff were determined and prioritized. Data collected in qualitative and Delphi phase were analyzed by content analysis method and in quantitative phase by descriptive statistics and SPSS software.

In this study 73 training needs of staff in 5 domains of health, nursing, medicine, medicine and medical equipment and management in terms of professional skills and military medicine were given 22, 16, 15, 5 and 15 training titles, respectively. According to prioritizing the needs of the health care personnel of the organization under study, in each of the specialized areas most of the educational subjects had a mean score above 3 (from 1 to 5).

The training needs of military health system staff are highly diverse, expansive and complex and have specific characteristics. These training needs are constantly being addressed and need to be addressed in light of the ever-changing science and technology in military science and technology, future approaches as well as new needs arising from the types of battles, weapons injuries, Upgrading the knowledge and skills of the staff.
