Examining the permissibility of traveling for the purpose of visiting the Prophet's grave (PBH), based on the Hadith "It is not permissible for a Muslim to travel to a mosque for the sake of prayer other than Al-Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Aqsa, and my mosque."
With the appearance of Ibn Taymiyyah and then Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, some doubts were created in some Islamic rules. the Wahhabi world view forbid travelling to the tomb of the Holy prophet Muhammad. One of their reasons is a Hadith quoted by the Holy Prophet: "It is not permissible for a person to travel to visit a mosque other than Al-Masjid al-Haram and Al-Aqsa Mosque and my mosque"; According to this hadith, it is only permissible to travel to these three mosques (Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Aqsa, Masjid al-Nabi). But if we have a thorough study in Sunni scholars, we will see that this Hadith means that travelling to these mosques will have a complete reward, showing the superiority of these three mosques over other mosques. In addition, according to some great Sunni scholars, this Hadith does not mean that visiting other mosques is Haram. It can be concluded that traveling for the purpose of taking a pilgrimage tour is permissible and will be rewarded.
