Abstract:

One of the teachings of the Holy Quran is to pay attention to the superiority of the Islamic nation over other nations. This Quranic teaching can be proved in various ways, among them is the examination of “general characteristics of Ummahs” and “specific characteristics of the Islamic Ummah”. This research, which was carried out in a descriptive-analytical method, using lexical, interpretative, Quranic and narrative sources, seeks to answer the question: What are the general and specific characteristics of “Ummahs” and “Islamic Ummah” from the perspective of the verses of the Quran? The data of the research is as follows: the common characteristics between all Ummahs are: having a messenger, having different laws, being a guide or a disputer, having a deadline, being gathered in the House of Judgment and having a witness; The special characteristics of the Islamic Ummah are: the best Ummah, the middle Ummah, being a witness to the people and having the good qualities of the previous Ummah.
