The Effect of New Educational Methods in Ethics Education on Promoting Moral Sensitivity and Moral Courage in Nurses: A Narrative Review

Courage and moral sensitivity are two important components of nursing ethics that can affect the quality of nursing services. The purpose of this article is to review the studies conducted in the field of the effectiveness of new educational methods in ethics on the promotion of moral sensitivity and courage of nurses.

in this review study, articles published between (2010 to 2023) were reviewed. the references were searched in credible databases of Iran doc, SID, Scopus, Science Direct and Magiran and Google Scholar by searching in Persian and English sources with the Persian keywords of “teaching moral principles”, “moral sensitivity”, “moral courage” and “nurse”. In total, out of 26 articles found, 10 related articles were reviewed. The entry criteria included writing the article in Farsi and English and matching with the purpose of the study, and the exclusion criteria included not having access to the full text.

The review of studies indicates that nurses face various ethical challenges in the dimensions of sensitivity and moral courage, and moral education, especially through narrative methods and peer education, has significantly improved sensitivity and moral courage. Discussion and

Considering the importance of nurses' work and their job conditions, it is suggested to teaching ethics by using new educational methods such as peer education and narration in continuing education and retraining at regular intervals.
