Comparison of Attachment Style, Personality and Anxiety, in Mothers of Children With Separation Anxiety Disorder and Mothers of Normal Children

Abstract:
The aim of the present research was to investigate the impact of mother characeristics on child separation anx-iety and social maturation. This resea-rch assumes that attachment, personality, and anxiety in mother are related to child attachment anxiety and social maturity. To investigate the relationships this study compares two groups of mothe-rs. This research is a cross-sectional study carried on 60 mothers and their children.Inventories of Adult attachment scale, MCMI-2, State - Trait Anxiety, Social Maturity Scale and Child Symptom Inventory were used to collect the information. The statistical analysis of data is based on t-test, man whitney U, correlation and regression. Results in-dicated that insecure attachment (anxious-ambivalent), trait anxiety and some of the personality traits of moth-er could predict separation anxiety and social maturity in children.
