Study of relation between female's runaway from home and demographic Variables

Abstract:
Methods and Materials: 500 females from Mashhad city high schools at local areas number 2, 5 and 7 were selected. At first the areas were chosen on cluster sampling, and then 2 schools were selected randomly from each cluster. After this subjects were selected randomly based on their high school speciality and grade being obtained. All subjects completed 2 questionnaires: demographic characteristics, and risk of running away from home. Data were analyzed by using Pearsonian correlation, one way analysis of variance, and Scheffe post hoc test.
Results
Data indicated that significant correlation were found between risk of females running away and age, family members, family income, parent age and educations. The results of one way analysis of variance and Scheffe post hoc test revealed academic achievement, birth order, and person in charge type influential in risk of running away from home among female adolescents. The influence of other variables was not meaningful.
Conclusion
This study shows that demographic characteristic have meaningful effect on the risk of females’ running away from home.
