Pathology of Enterance Exam in Student's Acceptance System
As a social phenomenon deeply intertwined with the economic and psychological fabric of different families, universities entrance exams (konkoor) in Iran tends not only to affect public secondary education but also gravely undermine creativity and mental health of the youth. This alarming situation calls for widespread research on the current system of student admission to higher education in a id to work out a concrete solution to this problem as one of the central issues need to be closely pursed by our higher education system. Based on theoretical and field surveys conducted on "konloor" by a group of researchers, the present research tries to primarily make a pathological study of the issue from various aspects, including family, psychological, academic and employment angles in order to thoroughly examine the system dealing with student admission. Furthemore numerous theories, such as reducing number of candidates, functional changes in higher education system making partial replacement of bachelor's courses with associate's courses, increasing seats to saturate eagerness for higher studies, have all been introduce as remedies paving the ground for elimination of "konkoor" in the long run. The closing part of this research winds up with some suggestions and comments on gradual elimination of universities entrance exams.
