The influence of development on cultural identity: A reflection

Development can impress differently on identity as one of the main social problems, so we should consider this factor in development process. Although some theories emphasizes on the positive role of development on solidarity of identity, some others can influence negatively on cultural identity. The main question of this article is about negative impact of development on identity and discusses the impacts and causes of development on identity. Considering the models of endogenous and exogenous development and also the identity of exogenous development, the author argues that the models of exogenous development because of its heterogeneous values and cultures with cultural identity of importer country create identity challenges in development process and at last these challenges may engender identity crisis. The author means from development the economic one which is the purpose of other types of development. This article at last studies the reasons of not solving of identity challenges in development process of developing countries.
