Author(s):
Abstract:
Polygamy has been under the influence of different factors such as social, cultural and economic issues in different societies. The Quran displays the legitimacy of polygamy in Islamic societies and limits its expansion.Observance of Justice, fairness and dealing evenhandedly with their spouse, it clearly shows that Islam does not call for polygamy, but admits the possibility of several marriages to render help to orphans, widows and unattended women. Moreover the holy Qurandefines monogamy as the foundation of marriage, and emphasise verses regarding marriage. Deep scrutiny in traditions and saying clearly shows that whenever polygamy is proclaimed its basic philosophy is also announced.In response to all the misgiving regarding polygamy, there are always convincing reseanonable explanations. The present article suggests legal ways to prevent the misuse of relevant Islamic verdict.
