Analysis of the dimensions of the Quality of Life in the Urban Areas of Iran

City as a place of living of human beings requires providing standards which could be called standards of life quality. In fact, quality of life is a multi-dimensional and complex concept which has been introduced and researched by think of civic sciences as well as other scientists. There are different methods in different geographical levels to measure quality of life one of which is Human Development Index (HDI). This research attempts to study. The different urban areas of the country on the basis of the defined indices in relation to the quality of life. The methodology of the research is based on the descriptive and analytical methods and the data collection has been done via documentary checking. The studied sample includes 253 urban areas. The data and information are obtained from the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) to analyze the different aspects of the quality of life. The process of computation is based on the pattern of HDI. The results reveal that the urban areas of Iran suffers from wide gap regarding the indices of the quality of life. From the total 253 studied cities only 24 (9.5%) city show privileged condition while about 50 percent of the studied areas are considered as deprived areas. Also the capital city of Tehran as a heterogeneous area has seperated itself from other urban areas.
