The Qarakhtayid rule on Kerman which took shape in coincidence with Mongol’scapture of Iran experienced its zenith under an eminent female figure of the dynasty,i.e. Turkn Khatn. A look at the history of Kerman during her rule shows that theregion experienced a noticeable economic-cultural efflorescence and enjoyed asituation of security. If we would be allowed to consider security as a crucialprecondition for economic and cultural growth, we might then find a valid evidencefor a situation of social/political security in Kerman’s economic-cultural efflorescenceduring this time. The present paper purported to explain the causes of thissocial/political security and its relevance to the region’s economic/cultural growthwithin that time. It assumed a prominent role for Turkn Khatn and her politicalinsight in this economic/cultural growth of Kerman.
