The Role of Health Locus of Control and Causality Orientations in Predicting Self-care Behaviors among Patients with Type II Diabetes

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of Health locus of control and causality orientations in self-care behaviors in-patient with type II diabetes. In this correlational research, 60 patients from Tabriz Sina hospital were selected. All Participants wereasked to complete Multidimentional Health Locus of control (MHLC) and General causality orientations (GCOS) and self- care behaviors (SDSC) scales. For analyzing data descriptive statistics, correlation coefficient, regression analysis, and independent t testwere used. Results revealed that self-care behaviors did have a significant positive association with Internal health locus of control and negative association with chance locus of control.But there was not significant relationship between power others and self-care behaviors. Moreover,there was positive relationship between self care behaviors and autonomy, and significant negative association between self-care behaviors and Impersonal orientation. The results also revealed that internal control did have more roles in predicting self-care behaviors. In addition, the males and females did not differ significantly in self-care behaviors, health locus of control and causality orientations.
