Comparison of Marital Satisfaction Between Fixed- Shift and Rotating Shift Nurses in Social Security Hospitals of Tabriz

Abstract:
Background and Objectives
During the recent years many researches have been carried out on the effect of rotating shift work on career and family life of nurses but few studies have examined its impact on marital satisfaction among nurses. Thus the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rotating shift work on marital satisfaction among Tabriz nurses.
Materials and Methods
This is a descriptive cross-sectional study included 150 nurses who were randomly selected from five hospitals. Data gathering tool was Enrich marital satisfaction scale and were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and T-test.
Results
Results showed that the nurse’s mean marital satisfaction for fixed shift was 145/05±19/90 Vs 151/26±20/09 for rotating shift group. Findings revealed no significant difference in marital satisfaction between fixed shift and rotating shift nurses (P = 0.128).
Conclusion
Regarding the results of the current research implementation of skill training programs is necessary to increase marital satisfaction of all nurses.
