Factors Affecting Sustainable Agricultural Knowledge in Iran: A Case Study of Rice Cultivators in Mazandaran Province

Abstract:
The purpose of present study is to examine factors affecting the knowledge of sustainable cultivation of rice high yield variety in Mazandaran province. This study is a survey and statistical sample includes 270 rice cultivators in Amol, Babol and Sari counties which are selected by simple random method. Research data is collected by a questionnaire. The most important findings indicate positive and significant relationship between age, level of education, level of participation, gross income of high yielding variety, management characteristics, rice cultivation experience, total area of farming land, total area of land under rice cultivation and area under high yield rice variety cultivation as independent variable and sustainable agricultural knowledge as dependent variable. In addition the results from regression show that management characteristics, level of education, age, total area of land under rice cultivation, level of participation and rice cultivation experience can explain 35% of changes in sustainable agricultural knowledge as dependent variable.
