    Objective

One of the most prevalent surgical emergencies is appendicitis, caused by different factors. However, its relation to trauma has not been well-known yet. Here we have described three cases with blunt abdominal trauma and a secondary diagnosis of appendicitis that were transferred to the operation room.

    Case Presentation

Three patients suffering from blunt trauma and abdominal pain were referred to the emergency department (ED). Of these patients, one of them was transferred to the operation room (OR) with a peritonitis diagnosis and the other two patients had appendicitis signs and symptoms. The abdominal pain and related signs and symptoms of these three patients were due to appendicitis. All three patients were discharged from the hospital with normal vital signs.

    Conclusion

Traumatic appendicitis might be regarded as one of the differential diagnoses of the patients referred to the ED with blunt abdominal trauma and abdominal pain; hence, appendicitis and blunt abdominal trauma have some unknown relations.

    Introduction

The most common connective tissue neoplasm of the gastrointestinal tract is gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). Its presentations are usually abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding.

    Case Presentation

We report a 31-year-old man with abdominal pain presented to our hospital with 10 days history of abdominal pain. After radiologic investigations, total distended stomach paraesophageal hernia and antral deformity were seen in the CT scan. Subsequently, the patient underwent surgery and after releasing the stomach, a large sealed perforatedmass was seen in the antrum near the diaphragmatic hiatus and small localized abscess that subtotal gastrectomy and hernia repair was done. Pathologic examination revealed that the perforated mass is a GIST.

    Conclusions

We report a rare complication of gist that is perforation and the first report of simultaneous paraesophageal hernia and perforated gist.

    Background

Rice pill poisoning is among the most frequent causes of death among poisoners. Despite advances in the treatment of this poisoning, its mortality rate remains high. The symptoms of Aluminum Phosphide (AlP) poisoning are varied and progressive. One of the essential foundations of diagnosis is based on the history of swallowing the pill by the patient or their companions. Case Report: A 20-year-old woman with generalized abdominal pain and a diagnosis of peritonitis was operated. The operative finding was total gastric necrosis. After the operation, the patient’s husband claimed that she had consumed some rice pills, intending to commit suicide. Despite all efforts, she remained in persistent septic shock and multi-organ failure and passed away after surgery.

    Conclusion

Total gastric necrosis could be among the lethal complications of rice tablet (AlP) poisoning.

    Background
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is plasma of enriched platelets with high concentration of platelet granules and growth factors. The platelet growth factors have a great potential of wound and connective tissue healing used to treat cartilage lesions and retarding the progression of knee osteoarthritis.
    Objectives
This study was designed to evaluate PRP injection results in knee osteoarthritis. Patients and
    Methods
This was a case-series study of 39 patients and all of them had three injections of PRP for the involved knee (every two weeks) and they were followed up at two weeks, two months and six months post-injection of PRP. All included patients filled the WOMAC (western Ontario and Mcmaster universities arthritis index) standardized and translated to our national language and culture. We analyzed the collected scores of before initiation of PRP injections, the second week, the second month and the sixth month after injections into the knees.
    Results
Thirty-nine patients with a mean age of 55.24 ± 9.27 years (ranged 40 to 83) were evaluated in this study. Six patients (15.4%) were male and 33 patients (84.6%) female. There were significant differences in WOMAC score of patients in two months and six months after injection of PRP compared to before injection.
    Conclusions
PRP had a great clinical improvement in short-term follow-up for early stages of knee osteoarthritis.
