    Background

The global COVID-19 pandemic has significantly influenced athletes worldwide.

    Objectives

This research aims to investigate the effects of a 4-week aerobic exercise program on athletic performance in both recovered and uninfected COVID-19 athletes during the post-COVID-19 period.

    Methods

Fourteen male student-athletes aged 18 - 25 years from Imam Khomeini International University participated in this study. The participants comprised 7 recovered COVID-19 athletes and 7 athletes with no prior COVID-19 infection. The study employed a pre-test/post-test design conducted in 2 phases. During the pre and post-test phases, participants underwent baseline assessments of athletic performance, including maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) and anaerobic power. Subsequently, the participants engaged in a 4-week aerobic exercise intervention. Pre- and post-intervention outcomes within groups were compared using paired t-tests, while independent t-tests were utilized for comparisons between the recovered COVID-19 athlete group and the uninfected athlete group.

    Results

    Independent t-tests demonstrated significant increases in VO2 max and peak power after 4 weeks of aerobic exercise in both the recovered COVID-19 group (P = 0.001, P = 0.0001) and the uninfected COVID-19 group (P = 0.012, P = 0.001). However, dependent t-tests revealed a significant difference between the recovered COVID-19 group and the uninfected COVID-19 group in the post-test of VO2 max (P = 0.044) and peak power (P = 0.001).

    Conclusions

This study indicates that a 4-week aerobic exercise regimen can improve athletic performance in both recovered and uninfected COVID-19 athletes. However, recovered COVID-19 athletes exhibited a notably slower rate of improvement compared to their uninfected counterparts. Therefore, it is recommended that, in addition to aerobic exercise, recovered athletes integrate supplementary strategies to optimize their return-to-sport timeline and maximize performance recovery.

Today, many people in society choose running as a general or special activity in order to improve their physical and physiological capabilities. Choosing the right shoes in endurance running can have a great impact on the athlete's performance. Physiological energy economy and maximal oxygen consumption are of particular importance not only among runners but among all athletes. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to compare VO2 Max values and physiological energy economy when using double density spike shoes compared to simple spike shoes. Current study is semi experimental. The statistical sample of the current study includes 30 runners from Ardabil city, who were organized in a group, and the parameters of physiological energy economy, maximum oxygen consumption, resting heart rate, systolic blood pressure and 1600 meters running record were measured during running with both double density spiked shoes and regular spiked shoes. Also, to analyze the data, the analysis of variance test with repeated measurements was used at a significance level of P=0.05. The results of the present study showed not statistically significant difference in the values of maximum oxygen consumption, heart rate and 1600 meters running record with two simple and double density shoes after performing 1600 meters running test. However, the systolic blood pressure values while running with double density shoes were less different than the control shoes (P<0.001). It seems that the use of double density shoes does not have much effect on maximum oxygen consumption, heart rate and physiological energy economy. Therefore, in order to receive more confidence and make a more decisive conclusion, there is a need to conduct more research.

This investigation has been performed to identify the effects of two warming programs with different intensities on the best male soccer player's cardio respiratory criteria.10 of the best juvenile male soccer players were chosen from Tehran gyms. They were with the average of 20±1 years old, 1.78±0.04 meters length and 21.65± 2.05 kg/m of body mass indicator (BMI). The members performed two warming protocols with the intensity of 50 and 70 percent of maximum heart beat in two sessions with a 72 hourtime off between them. After that, they took part in a maximal exercise on treadmilluntil they reached fatigue. Vo2 max, vVo2max, lactate threshold heart beat, heart beat as reaching vo2 max, oxygen pulse, and lactate threshold Vo2 were the criteria measured by a respiratory gases breath by breath analyzing machine. The results showed that intense warming as compared with moderate warming does not have a significant effect on cardio respiratory criteria. Nevertheless, vo2 max, vVo2max, lactate threshold heart beat, and heart beat as reaching vo2 max were higher during intense warming. On the other hand, Peak O2 pulse was lower during intense warming.
