    Objective

This study aimed to investigate the predictive relationship between family resilience and family functioning among married couples. It sought to understand how the construct of resilience within the family context influences the overall dynamics and health of marital relationships.

    Methods and Materials:

Adopting a cross-sectional design, the study recruited 250 married individuals from counseling centers and social network groups. Participants were assessed using standardized measures of family resilience and family functioning. Linear regression analysis was employed to explore the predictive power of family resilience on family functioning, with preliminary checks for multicollinearity, normality, and homoscedasticity.

    Findings

The analysis revealed a significant predictive relationship between family resilience and family functioning. Specifically, higher levels of reported family resilience were associated with better family functioning scores. These findings were supported by statistical analyses, demonstrating that family resilience accounted for a substantial portion of the variance in family functioning.

    Conclusion

The study confirms the importance of family resilience as a significant predictor of family functioning in married couples. This underscores the potential for interventions aimed at enhancing family resilience to positively impact marital health and well-being. The findings advocate for the integration of resilience-building strategies in family therapy and counseling practices.

    Objective

The objective of this study was to investigate the relationships between family functioning, cultural marginalization, and social competence. Specifically, it aimed to understand how cultural marginalization and social competence individually and collectively predict family functioning.

    Methods

This cross-sectional study involved 350 participants selected based on the Morgan and Krejcie sample size table. Data were collected using the Family Assessment Device (FAD) for family functioning, the Cultural Marginalization Scale (CMS) for cultural marginalization, and the Social Skills Inventory (SSI) for social competence. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and linear regression analysis were conducted using SPSS version 27 to analyze the data.

    Results

    The mean score for family functioning was 2.75 (SD = 0.68), cultural marginalization was 3.45 (SD = 0.72), and social competence was 4.12 (SD = 0.55). Significant correlations were found between family functioning and cultural marginalization (r = -0.52, p < 0.001) as well as social competence (r = 0.46, p < 0.001). Regression analysis revealed that cultural marginalization (β = -0.42, p < 0.001) and social competence (β = 0.28, p < 0.001) significantly predicted family functioning, accounting for 22% of the variance (R² = 0.22, F(2, 347) = 45.67, p < 0.001).

    Conclusion

The study concluded that cultural marginalization and social competence are significant predictors of family functioning. Cultural marginalization negatively impacts family dynamics, while social competence positively influences them. These findings highlight the need for culturally sensitive interventions to support marginalized families and enhance their social skills to improve overall family functioning.

    Objective

To examine the effectiveness of social skills training on enhancing family functioning among married individuals.

    Methods and Materials:

Employing a quasi-experimental design, this study involved 30 married individuals visiting a private counseling center, divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received an 8-week social skills training program focused on improving communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation within marital relationships.

    Findings

Results indicated significant improvements in family functioning scores for the experimental group, as compared to the control group, both immediately following the intervention and at a 3-month follow-up. The analysis of variance with repeated measurements underscored the positive impact of social skills training on enhancing family dynamics.

    Conclusion

Social skills training emerges as a viable intervention for improving family functioning among married couples, suggesting its potential inclusion in marital counseling services to foster healthier family relationships.
