It is firstly proved that the multi-input-single-output (MISO) fuzzy systems based on interval-valued $R$- and $S$-implications can approximate any continuous function defined on a compact set to arbitrary accuracy. A formula to compute the lower upper bounds on the number of interval-valued fuzzy sets needed to achieve a pre-specified approximation accuracy for an arbitrary multivariate continuous function is then presented. In addition, a method to design the interval-valued fuzzy systems based on $R$- and $S$-implications in order to approximate a given continuous function with a required approximation accuracy is represented. Organizations need to evaluate project proposals and select the ones that are the most effective in reaching the strategic goals by considering sustainability issue. In order to enhance the effectiveness and the efficiency of project oriented organizations, in this paper a new multi-objective decision making (MODM) approach of sustainable project portfolio selection is proposed which applies interval-valued fuzzy sets (IVFSs) to consider uncertainty. In the proposed approach, in addition to sustainability criteria, other practical criteria including non-financial benefits, strategic alignment, organizational readiness and project risk are incorporated. The presented approach consists of three main parts: In the first part, a novel composite risk return index based on the IVFSs is introduced and used to form the first model to evaluate the financial return and risk of the proposed projects. In the second part, a new risk reduction compromise ratio model is introduced to evaluate projects versus non-financial criteria. Finally, an MODM model is presented to form the overall objective function of the approach. In order to make the approach more suitable for real-world situations, a group of applicable constraints is included in the proposed approach. The constraints are based on limitations and issues existing in practical project portfolio management. Due to importance of uncertainty and risk in project portfolio selection, they are addressed separately in three parts of the approach. In the first part, a novel downside risk measure is introduced and applied to assess financial risk of projects. In the second part of the approach, not only project risk is accounted for as a criterion, but also a new method is introduced to control and limit the risk of uncertainty and to use the advantages of IVFSs. Finally, the proposed IVF-MODM approach is applied to select the optimal sustainable project portfolio in real case study of a holding company in a developing country. The results show that the approach can successfully address highly uncertain environments. Moreover, risk has been fully explored from different perspectives. A novel approach to the problem of regression modeling for fuzzy input-output data is introduced.
In order to estimate the parameters of the model, a distance on the space of interval-valued quantities is employed.
By minimizing the sum of squared errors, a class of regression models is derived based on the interval-valued data obtained from the $alpha$-level sets of fuzzy input-output data.
Then, by integrating the obtained parameters of the interval-valued regression models, the optimal values of parameters for the main fuzzy regression model are estimated.
Numerical examples and comparison studies are given to clarify the proposed procedure, and to show the performance of the proposed procedure with respect to some common methods.Keywords: Fuzzy regression, Interval, valued regression, Least squares method, $LR$, Fuzzy number, Multiple regression, Predictive ability} -
Selecting the most suitable robot among their wide range of specifications and capabilities is an important issue to perform the hazardous and repetitive jobs . Companies should take into consideration powerful group decision-making (GDM) methods to evaluate the candidates or potential robots versus the selected attributes (criteria) . In this study , a new GDM method is proposed by utilizing the complex proportional assessment method under interval-valued hesitant fuzzy (IVHF)-environment . In the proposed method , a group of experts is established to evaluate the candidates or alternatives among the conflicted attributes . In addition , experts assign their preferences and judgments about the rating of alternatives and the relative importance of each attribute by linguistic terms which are converted to interval-valued hesitant fuzzy elements (IVHFEs) . Also , the attributesâ weights and expertsâ weights are applied in procedure of the proposed interval-valued hesitant fuzzy group decision-making (IVHF-GDM) method . Hence , the expertsâ opinions about the relative importance of each attribute are considered in determination of attributesâ weights . Thus , we propose a hybrid maximizing deviation method under uncertainty . Finally , an illustrative example is presented to show the feasibility of the proposed IVHF-GDM method and also the obtained ranking results are compared with a recent method from the literature .Keywords: Robot selection problem, Group decision making analysis, Interval, valued hesitant fuzzy sets}

The intuitionistic linguistic set (ILS) is an extension of linguisitc variable. To overcome the drawback of using single real number to represent membership degree and non-membership degree for ILS, the concept of interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic set (IVILS) is introduced through representing the membership degree and non-membership degree with intervals for ILS in this paper. The operation law, score function, accuracy function, and certainty function for interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic varibales (IVILVs) are defined. Hereby a lexicographic method is proposed to rank the IVILVs. Then, three kinds of interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic arithmetic average operators are defined, including the interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic weighted arithmetic average (IVILWAA) operator, interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic ordered weighted arithmetic (IVILOWA) operator, and interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic hybrid arithmetic (IVILHA) operator, and their desirable properties are also discussed. Based on the IVILWAA and IVILHA operators, two methods are proposed for solving multi-attribute group decision making problems with IVILVs. Weighted similarity measure on interval-valued fuzzy sets and its application to pattern recognitionA new approach to define the similarity measure between interval-valued fuzzy sets is presented. The proposed approach is based on a weighted measure in which the normalized similarities between lower functions and also between upper functions arecombined by a weight parameter. The properties of this similarity measure are investigated. In this paper, relations among the membership values of gener- alized fuzzy languages such as intuitionistic fuzzy language, interval-valued fuzzy language and vague language are studied. It will aid in studying the properties of one language when the properties of another are known. Further, existence of a minimized nite automaton with vague (final) states for any vague regular language recognized by a nite automaton with vague (final) states is shown in this paper. Finally, an ecient algorithm is given for minimizing the nite automaton with vague (final) states. Similarly, it can be shown for intuitionistic fuzzy regular language. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for solving nonlinear interval Volterra integral equations (NIVIEs) based on the modifying Laplace decomposition method. We find the exact solutions of NIVIEs with less computation as compared with standard Laplace decomposition method, even there is no noise in the original problem.
