Green synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs) using different parts of plant extracts is a novel and environmentally benign method that can be used in numerous biomedical applications. In this study cobalt oxide nanoparticles were synthesized through biological method using 0.2 M cobalt nitrate hexahydrate as a precursor salt and leaf extract of indigenous plant called Phytolacca dodecandra as a reducing and capping agent. In addition to this, cobalt oxide nanoparticles were synthesized chemically by co-precipitation method from cobalt nitrate hexahydrate in the presence of sodium hydroxide as a precipitating agent. The synthesized Co3O4 NPs were characterized using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), Ultraviolet-Diffuse Reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis-DRS) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The average crystal size were found to be 10.79 nm and 11.9 nm, having band gap energy of 3.35 eV and 3.18 eV for the biologically and chemically synthesized Co3O4 NPs, respectively. The shape and morphology of Co3O4 NPs synthesized in the two methods were found to be spherical. Analyses of FT-IR and XRD have confirmed formation of Co3O4 NPs. The corresponding zone of inhibition of the antibacterial activity of both the calcined and un-calcined biologically and chemically synthesized Co3O4 NPs were found in between 8.3-12.5. Biologically synthesized Co3O4 NPs shows high antibacterial activity due to the production of high reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) because of the presence of Phytolacca dodecandra leaf extract and due to the relatively small average crystalline size as compared to chemically synthesized Co3O4 NPsKeywords: Antibacteriala activity, Biological method, Chemical method, Cobalt oxide nanoparticles, Phytolacca dodecandra

این مطالعه با هدف بررسی ساختار زیولیت اصلاح شده Y با استفاده از روشهای مختلف آلومینیومزدایی و تاثیر هر یک از این روشها بر چارچوب ساختاری زیولیت انجام شده است. فرآیند آلومینیومزدایی توسط محلول EDTA (فرم اسیدی)، محلول آمونیوم کلراید (NH4Cl)، و هیدروکلریکاسید (HCl) انجام میشود. به منظور بررسی اثر روش فرایند آلومینیومزدایی بر پایداری ساختار، نمونههای اصلاح شده با استفاده از پراش اشعهیX (XRD)، طیفسنجی مادونقرمز تبدیل فوریه (FTIR)، میکروسکوپ الکترونی روبشی (SEM)، و طیفسنجی تفرق انرژی اشعهی ایکس (EDX) مورد بررسی قرار میگیرد. با مقایسه سه روش میتوان نتیجه گرفت که مناسب ترین روش EDTA است زیرا نه تنها ساختار کاملا حفظ میشود بلکه آلومینیوم خارج چارچوب نیز حذف میشود و نسبت Si/Al افزایش مییابد. علاوه بر این ، در روش اسید کلریدریک نیز آلومینیوم خارج چارچوب نیز حذف میشود ، اما در روش کلسینه کردن، آلومینیوم خارج چارچوب هنوز وجود دارد و بنابراین در این روش نسبت Si/Al کمتر از دو روش قبلی است.

The dealumination is performed by EDTA solution (acidic form), ammonium chloride (NH4Cl), and hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution. To investigate the effect of the dealumination process on the stability of the structures modified samples are studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersion X-ray (EDX). By comparing the three methods, it can be concluded that EDTA is the most suitable method because it is not only preserved the structure but also removed the extra-framework aluminum and increases the Si/Al ratio. In addition, in the hydrochloric acid treatment, the extra-framework aluminum is also removed, but in the calcination process (NH4Cl), the extra-framework aluminum is still present, and therefore, the Si/Al ratio is lower than the previous two methods.

In this work, Ag-Cu nanoparticles (with different percentages of copper, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% Cu) were synthesized by wet chemical method. Copper(II) sulfate and silver nitrate were taken as metal precursors, ascorbic acid as reducing agent and anhydride maleic (MA) as a modifier. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique and scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDAX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and UV-Vis spectroscopy. SEM indicated the formation of uniform spherical crystalline nanoparticle in a well distributed size and morphology. It can be seen from these pictures that the particle size decreased with increasing of the copper percent. When the molar ratio of Cu2ﰈ is 75/25 (>50%), mixture of the spherical and hexagonal nanoparticles was prepared. Three pronounced Ag diffraction peaks (111), (200) and (220) appeared at 2θ = 38°, 43.9° and 64.1°, respectively. The three most intense peaks of the XRD pattern of sample showed a slight shifting of the center of the diffraction peaks toward a lower angle. No shifting was observed in XRD lines with the increase of Cu2 to Ag ratio in the Cu2ﰈ mixed solution (> 50% Cu). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) showed that nanoparticles are coordination between oxygen atoms and nanoparticles, because functional unit C=O present in MA, shifts to 1652.69 cm-1 after embedding nanoparticles. The position of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption band on the nanoparticles could be shifted from 380-350 nm via the change of their percentage of Cu.
