An Eulerian–Eulerian-based two-dimensional mathematical modeling approach for bubbling fluidized bed gasifier using FLUENT has been proposed to transfer energy, momentum, and mass between two phases namely solid and gas together with the application of the kinetic theory of solid particle flow. The modeling equation involves eight homogeneous and five heterogeneous reactions kinetics. The eddy dissipation model of FLUENT has been used to incorporate homogeneous reaction kinetics and a user-defined code has been developed that describes the kinetics of heterogeneous reactions. The simulation result shows that the exit syngas composition is in line with the experimental one and has a maximum error of around 4.05% for CO and 2.68% for hydrogen. This model has been used to study the variation in hydrogen concentration in the syngas to maximize hydrogen production based on different operating and design parameters.

The purpose of this paper is to find the optimal geometry of Venturi for the production of biodiesel by hydrodynamic cavitation. Intensive methods such as hydrodynamic cavitation eliminate the limitation of mass transfer in the transesterification reaction. In this paper, a venturi design was developed to create cavitation in biodiesel production. The most important property of venturi in creating cavitation and retrieving the pressure is the convergence and divergence angles. The four convergence angles of 22°, 20°, 17°, and 15° and four divergence angles of 12°, 10°, 7° and 5° in Gambit 2.4 software were designed and evaluated with Fluent 6.3 software and their CFD was analyzed. The maximum pressure recovery (85% of input pressure) and cavitation generation was for venturi 17-10 (Convergence angle 17° and divergence angle 10°), which was used in the experimental setup of biodiesel production. The biodiesel production efficiency with this venturi was 95.6%. The FTIR spectrum of the biodiesel was taken to confirm its purity.

The design and optimization of hydrocyclones using CFD techniques are gaining popularity and the key to a successful simulation lies with the accurate description of the high turbulent swirling behavior of the flow. This paper presents a detailed comparison between the Omega RSM and the RNG k– turbulence model, which are both derived specially for modeling swirling or rotational flow, in the simulation of a hydrocyclone. The predictions of velocity field, volume of vortexes, mass split and turbulent viscosity were obtained and compared. It is showed that in general both models gave similar predictions of the flow field under different inlet velocities, while the predictions of turbulent viscosity and in the core region of hydrocyclone were found more closely aligned with the reality using Omega RSM.Keywords: CFD, Hydrocyclone, RSM, RNG k– model, Fluent

This paper presents the results of heat transfer measurement and analysis for two 5*5 cm porous channels. the channels were made of bronze beads with two different mean diameters, dp=0.72 and 1.59 mm. the local wall temperature distribution and heat transfer coefficients were measured for heat flux of 8000 and 16000 watt/m2 with coolant fluid velocity ranging from 0.16 to 5 m/s and inlet fluid pressure of 1~3 atm. the flow of fluid in porous channels is modeled with using Darcy-forcheheimer-brinkman model. by using fluent software, simulation is done that the geometry figure with gambit is generated.Keywords: Fluent, gambit, heat transfer, porous channel, darcy, brinkman
