Scientia Iranica, Volume:21 Issue: 6, 2014, PP 2082 -2086An efficient and environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of 2-amino-chromen-5(6H)-onesas important pharmaceutical compounds has been developed using [N,N''-bis(benzoylacetone)-1,2-ethylenediimine]Mn(III) chloride (2.5 mol%) as a heterogeneous and inorganic catalyst. A mixture of an appropriate aldehyde, malononitrile and dimedone in the presence of a catalytic amount of Mn(III) complex resulted in excellent yields (95-100%) of the corresponding products at ambient temperature. Novel bipodal, tripodalpiperidin-4-ones and their corresponding piperidin-4-ols were subjected to dielectric analysis which signifies drug delivery. The studies revealed that these compounds can exhibit better drug release in association with polymer.

The electrochemical behavior of certain pyrazolin-5-ones was investigated at the dropping mercury electrode by employing DC polarography. The variables that influence the electrode process were extensively studied. All compounds under investigation gave two well defined polarographic waves. The mechanism for the electrode process was proposed in acid, as well as in basic media.
