This study aimed to investigate the effect of nanoclay on physical, mechanical, optical properties and morphological characteristics of the paper from CMP pulp was performed. The amount of nanoclay in six levels of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 percent and for retention of the cationic starch 1 percent of all pulps used. After the addition of additives, the handsheets was 60 g/m2 and the physical, mechanical, optical properties and morphological papers made was examined. The results showed that with the increase of nanoclay to 2% increase of the tensile strength and up to 10% reduced. With increasing nanoclay to 4% roughness increase and with 10% reduced. Decreasing trend in average tear strength, burst strength and brightness with nanoclay increasing to the level of 10% was observed. Uptrend in average air resistance, opacity and yellowness by increasing nanoclay the level of 10% was observed. SEM images showed that with increasing levels of nanoclay, somewhat coarse fibers by nanoclay pores are filled why increased air resistance. XRD results showed that the peak of the crystalline area disappeared and morphology of the intercalation formed. Keywords: CMP Pulp, Nanoclay, mechanical properties, optical properties, SEM

In this research, some chips of bamboo stem in the western part of Mazandaran (Noshahr region) were randomly chosen and CMP Pulps were prepared at the yield of 85% in 120 minutes, then by using cooking conditions of Wood and Paper Industries of Mazandaran, newsprint papers were prepared from the bamboo CMP and Mill(MWPI) CMP pulps, first in a separate and then in a mixed way. After that the hand made newsprint was prepared of 60 gr per each square meter. Then, the optical and mechanical properties were measured and compared based on TAPPI Standard test methods. The results showed that most of the strength of the burst, breaking length, tensile, fold and tear strength were in the handsheets obtained from 100% of bamboo CMP pulp. The lowest strength (except brightness and roughness) was in CMP pulp Mill. The results also pointed out that the above-mentioned features (except brightness) can be improved by using 25-100% of bamboo CMP pulp, too. The results also indicated that 25-100% of the bamboo CMP pulp can replace some of the CMP pulp of MWPI Mill. Keywords: Bamboo, CMP Pulp, Newsprint, Optical, Mechanical Properties

In this study, the woods of the imported Aspen, Beech and Horn Beam were randomly selected from the Mazandaran Wood and Paper industries (MWPI) from which standard chips were prepared and then the pure CMP pulp by 85% yield was produced. Then the biometrical properties of fiber, the chemical components of wood flour and CMP pulp, the decreased percentage of the chemical components and hand-sheet properties were measured and analyzed statistically. The results showed that the imported Aspen has shorter fiber length, more fiber diameter and lumen and smaller cell wall thickness than the Beech and Horn Beam .The imported Aspen wood has the least Klason lignin and the most Holocellulose from the chemical component point of view. Also, the hand-sheet properties of the CMP pulp of the samples under the study indicated that the tear strength and burst strength of papers obtained from the Beech and Horn Beam were smaller than the imported Aspen. Keywords: Aspen, Fiber Biometry, Lignin, Holocellulose, CMP Pulp, Optical Properties, Mechanical Properties

In this study, the birch beech and horn beam woods were randomly selected from the Mill wood and pulp industry of Mazandaran, from which the chips were prepared, and the pure CMP pulp by 85% yield was prepared according to TAPPI standard tests. Then the fiber biometric traits, the chemical components of wood flour and CMP pulp, the percentage of reduction of their chemical components and handsheet properties were measured and statistically analyzed. The results showed that the fiber length of imported birch is less than the horn beam but more than the beech. The fiber diameter and cell pit were greater and the cell wall thickness is smaller than the beech and horn beam. The chemical components of the imported birch wood have the smallest klason lignin and the greatest holocellulose. The handsheet properties of CMP pulp produced from the species under the study showed that the bursting strength and breaking length of the papers made from the beech and horn beam woods were lower than the birch wood. Keywords: Birch, Fiber Biometry, Lignin, Holocellulose, CMP Pulp, Optical Properties, Strength Properties
