    Introduction

Cryptorchidism is a congenital condition characterized by undescended testes, typically observed in infancy. We present an unusual case of bilateral undescended testes during anatomical dissection.

    Case Report:

The cadaver, preserved using standard techniques, exhibited bilateral undescended testes with no apparent signs of testicular issues or malignancies. The left testis was situated near the superficial ring of the inguinal canal, while the right testis was located deeper within. Both testes displayed normal size and structure, with intact vas deferens and blood vessels.

    Clinical Implications:

The etiology of adult-onset bilateral cryptorchidism remains unclear, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis in living patients. Timely intervention is crucial, as undescended testes in adults can lead to infertility, increased cancer risk, and hormonal imbalances. This case underscores the significance of regular medical examinations and early management for cryptorchidism.

    Conclusion

This rare case highlights the necessity of considering cryptorchidism in adult patients, even in the absence of apparent symptoms or malignancies. The findings emphasize the importance of prompt diagnosis and intervention to mitigate potential complications. Further research into adult-onset cases is warranted to enhance clinical understanding and improve patient care.

    Introduction

The aim of this study was to compare the results of treating undescended testis with conventional inguinal orchiopexy or by scrotal orchiopexy (in selected cases with undescended testis that can be rubbed up to the top of scrotum in their examination under general anesthesia).

    Materials and Methods

Physical examination files of 66 palpable undescended testes patients performed by two pediatric surgeons at a 5th level hospital in Kenya/Kiambu within the scope of the program (29/09/2018-07/10/2018) were retrospectively reviewed.

    Result

There was a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of surgery time (p = 0.001). In both groups, there was no recurrence, testicular atrophy, and hernia or hydrocele formation complications. Scrotal hematoma was observed in one patient in each group.

    Conclusion

Scrotal orchiopexy is a comfortable method that can be preferred in children because it requires less dissection, shorter operative time, no need analgesia, a single scrotal incision, and the fact that inguinal canal is not opened

    Background

Ambiguous genitalia is a hereditary disorder that usually requires early attention and detection. The discovery of ambiguous genitalia in a neonate is situation that could be difficult to manage, not only because of complications such as salt-losing, but also due to the importance of sex determination before psychological gender could be established. Awareness of the prevalence of ambiguous genitalia can affect the attitude and consideration of physicians and related medical personnel about disease in different communities. So in this study, the prevalence of ambiguous genitalia and undescended testes (UDT) in Iran was reported.

    Materials and Methods

This national study was conducted in 2009-2010 as part of the routine screening examinations at school entry in Iran. The physical examinations were performed for students at entry to three school levels by physicians and medical personnel. Execution and conduction of this program was the duty of the University of Medical Sciences in each province.

    Results

On average, the prevalence of ambiguous genitalia was 0.04% at national level (0.03%, 0.05%, and 0.03% at 6, 12, and 15 year olds, respectively). The prevalence of ambiguous genitalia was not significantly different according to age group and living area. The average of UDT) prevalence in the whole country was 0.13%. The prevalence of UDT was higher at elementary school level than in the other two levels.

    Conclusion

Although the prevalence of genitalia abnormalities was not high in the school students in Iran, given the importance of the issue and in order to find the ambiguous genitalia or UDT, medical examinations and parental notification should be taken seriously at an earlier age.
