Abstract:
There are innumerable evidences about benefactions provided by those who have dedicated a portion of their wealth (money, land, water, house, quadrupeds, instruments and etc. throughout the history of human communities for making a good gesture to facilitate the society’s welfare. Usually, to keep the “good action” effective through time, the benefactor seizes the said wealth to generate money via incomes or hiring in order to spent and grant the said money to facilitate the others’ welfare. Such a good custom has been also practiced in ancient societies and religions. As it is well spoken, a document has been discovered in Susa after the conquest of Islam denoting of a hoard that had been allocated to the “loans without suffering”. The document was presented to the caliph and he apparently ordered to make actions as the document advises. The word “vaqf” has been ideologically and religiously institutionalized after the rise of Islam and granting lands and wealth to the Prophet PBUH who gave an order to keep and utilize them via their incomes (not the benefits arisen from their sale). Vaqf along with “mowqūfa” (the object of “vaqf”/benefaction) and “vāqif” (benefactor) entered into the Moslem communities.
