Investigation of Facilitating Factors of Knowledge Management (KM) in Disaster Management Organization

Knowledge Management (KM) is a new approach that organizations use to recognize, create the knowledge and improve their productivity based upon. Nowadays, the role and importance of KM is more obvious than ever, and its successful implementation can have a crucial impact on productivity and performance of an organization. Therefore, recognition of the facilitating factors of KM and applying those factors could be used as a guideline for a better knowledge management. In this study, the facilitating factors of KM in the National Disaster Management Organization and all its affiliated offices were identified and ranked by using Information Technology, Strategy, Structure and Culture variables. The Pearson correlation analysis, Friedman, One-sample T test and Factor Analysis were used in this study for data analysis. According to the surveys, among all facilitating factors of KM, the Information Technology and Organizational Culture were identified as the effective factors while Strategy and Structure were not so effective. In this way, The Organizational Culture was found to have the most important role among the four subject variables in this study and the Strategy was ranked as the least important variable in facilitating the KM.
