Author(s):
Abstract:
This article has studied the relationship between differentiation and married men's addiction attitude from Bowen's theory of family systems. In this study، it was hypothesized that the men's attitude toward addiction depends to the extent of differentiation. Also، the addiction attitude in differentiated and undifferentiated men was compared. To test these hypothesizes، 53 men were selected as sample among clients who came to the clinic of counseling and psychotherapy. The Differentiation of Self Inventory (DSI-R) and the Addicted Attitude Questionnaire were utilized to collect the date. The results showed that there is a relationship between addicted attitude and extent of differentiation. Among differentiation subscales، emotional reactivity، emotional cutoff and I-position are predictors of addiction. Also، there was a meaningful different between differentiation and undifferentiated men's addiction attitude.
