Psychometric properties of Fourth Version of Identity Style Inventory (ISI-4)

The aim of this study was to determine psychometric properties of fourth version of identity style inventory (ISI-4) in Iranian samples. For this reason 630 undergraduate (193males & 437 females) randomly selected from university of Tehran (M= 19/75 &SD= 1/62 years old). The students completed Farsi translation of identity style inventory and the short form of Iranian EOM-EIS-2. Factor analysis of identity styles items yielded three factors as informative, diffused-avoidant and normative style. Using factor analysis on commitment items showed one factor structure. Correlation between identity style’s subscales and commitment with identity statuses showed convergent and divergent validity of ISI-4. Test-retest and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients in this study indicated high reliability of subscales except of normative style that have medium reliability. These results showed acceptable validity and reliability of ISI-4 in Iranian undergraduates.
