A psychological exploration of the educational roots of hypocrisy

This paper has a two-fold to present a lexical and psychological definition of hypocrisy, and to provide an answer to the question of the roots of and the factors encouraging hypocrisy. To study hypocrisy, one should clearly have a knowledge of how man’s morality grows. For this reason, the writers first introduce the views of Piaget and Cohlberg, and then explain the factors that give rise to hypocrisy. Finally, the writers present a hypothesis which is able to account for all forms of hypocrisy. The method used by the writers is descriptive-explanatory, using the library method. However, since few experimental studies have been done on the subject, most of them abroad, the writers suggest that future studies on the subject use experimental methods as well.
