How to encounter hypocrisy

Like man’s body and soul, the human society may be afflicted with maladies. Hypocrisy is among the factors that afflict both the human soul and the human society. The present paper is an attempt to describe this destructive phenomenon, limiting itself to ways to confront it. However, since one must know it in order to be able to fight it, the writer first explores the nature of hypocrisy. Since hypocrisy is a complex phenomenon, with various individual and social dimensions, the ways suggested should take into account the various psychological – ethical - sociological and epistemological dimensions. In the second part of the paper, these dimensions are described one by one, drawing on the teachings of the Qur’an.
