The role of BPR in the realization of ERP benefits
Abstract:
Implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) projects needs relatively high amount of investment costs. Due to the high failure rates, these projects face real challenges and risks which in case of failure, lots of expenses are imposed to organizations. Business process reengineering (BPR) is one of the most important ERP critical success factors which is not appropriately investigated and discussed in academic literature. With this in mind, this study has evaluated the effects of BPR projects on ERP systems implementation benefit's realization. The statistical analysis in this study is based on questionnaire data gathered through Iranian organizations that implemented the ERP systems. The results reveal that there is a positive relationship between implementing BPR projects and gaining more benefits from ERP systems.
