Assessing the effective factors of academic promotion rank of the faculty members of Qazvin Medical University from their point of view, 2011-12

One of the most important factors in the evaluation of specific performance of each university is the protection and promotion′s faculty members. This would improve the quality of the teaching- learning process, it make better results in outputs of this system. Determining the effective factors of academic promotion of the faculty members of Qazvin medical university from their point of view. This study is qualitative research of grounded theory type that carried on 27 of the attendants (participants) of this university. The data were obtained from semi structured interview with method conventional content analysis. We made two categories of improving factors and obstacles of academic promotion of the attendants of this university. The promotion factors were: Performing research along with teaching, attendant-training courses, how to research of scientific articles, suitable teacher- student relationship, teacher accessibility for the students. In contrast the obstacles were: lack of knowledge of the promotion forum, unfamiliar to research principals and methods, inaccessibility of research professionals in research centers. although research activities are essential component in academic promotion, an effectivetraining and the suitable teacher-student relationships are needed.
