Using multi-layer composite-metal panels in car body in order to increase pedestrian safety and decrease fatality

In most of the European union countries, the number of road fatalities decrease during last 20 years. Automobile design and new techniqual methods about safety, prevent accidents and also, driver & pedestrian behavior and emergency services and applying traffic rules, all help it. In last years, some efforts have been done at European union in order to increase pedestrian safety. So, European committee of vehicle safety organized and various studies have been done about pedestrian safety. The responsibility of this group is determining test methods of vehicles while in collision with pedestrians. On the basis of these researches, different recommendations offer about car body and also test methods and rules to protect pedestrians have been determined. Investigating accident statistics of different countries showes that most of the fatal accidents of pedestrians are related to head impact that one of the new methods of decreasing injuries, is to change body quality and replacing solid metal panel with multi- layer panel. This will cause to decrease velocity toward pedestrian head and also accident fatalities. Using multi- layer panels also increase energy absorbing and decrease occupant injury and fuel consumption. Here, in this essay, we investigate how to use multi – layer composite. Metal layers in car body and express the benefits of these panels.
