An Overview of on Image Iindexing: A Picture is worth a Thousand Words
Abstract:
Purpose
This paper studies presents various techniques of image indexing techniques and discusses their, (Concept-based Image Indexing, Content-based Image Indexing and Folksonomy). Advantages advantages and limitations. of these techniques will be discussed. Methodology
conducting a review of the lLiterature review, it identifies three main image indexing techniques, namely concept-based image indexing, content-based image indexing and folksonomy. It then describes each technique. Findings
Concept-based iImage iIndexing is text-based based. It allows users posting their query, using keywords. The and cContent-based Image image iIndexing is pixel-based. The first approach allows users to post their query using keywords and the later one,It allows users to posting their query by based on(colour, texture, shape, etc.). Images have more semantic features and layers, as a result so; Iindexing for images is more complex than comparing to indexing for texts. That is why indexing a text differs from indexing an image. Originality/value: This article reviews the conceptual framework of image indexing and retrieval and gives a comprehensive view about this sphere by collecting a relatively complete literature about it. This consolidated review can help us to get a right view about image indexing and retrieval. and it makes the differences between text and images indexing.Keywords:
