Introduction
Today، the use of cellular phones has become an inevitable part of people’s life. Some previous studies have shown the harmful effects of radiation of cellular phone on human health. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of electromagnetic radiation of cellular phone on parameters of human semen analysis. Methods
This prospective clinical trial was carried out on 50 semen samples of men who referred to Noor laboratory of Ahvaz، Iran in 2013. Before semen analysis، each semen sample was divided into two equal volumes (case and control). A current cellular phone in active mood was placed at a distance of 2. 5 cm from semen samples of case group for 60 minutes. No intervention was performed for samples of control group. After 60 minutes، semen analysis was done for all samples. Sperm count، concentration of motile and functional sperms and sperm morphology were compared in both groups. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16، Kolmogorov-Smirnov and t-test. P value less than 0. 05 was considered significant. Results
The differences of sperm morphology (p=0. 11) and total sperm count (p=0. 12) were not significant in both groups. Motile and functional sperms concentration in case group were lower than control group (p=0. 001). Conclusion
It seems that cellular phones have negative effects on human semen analysis and reduces total sperm count and functional sperms. Keywords:
