Abstract:
This study evaluates the use of mobile in classroom and its relationship with academic performance of high school students in Sanandaj. The population included 28,450 students in zones 1 and 2 of Sanandaj and 1,538 students were randomly selected as sample population. The results showed that students mostly used mobile to send SMS with such statements as jokes, romantic, meaningful, school homework, and news. Although many of the school students carry out mobiles with them to school, but most students take it off and put it in silent mode. The numbers of students, who use SMS in classroom, are less than the students who dont. Furthermore, the results show a negative relationship between mobile phone use in school and academic performance. The findings propose that Through creating Culture of using mobiles and informing parents and students of the effects of mobile phone on learning, mobile use may be limited in school.
