A study of epistimological obstacles of theory making in humanities

The main purpose of this research was to study epistimological obstacles of theory making in humanities. A Survey research method was used. The statistical population included 102male and 16 female faculty members of humanities and social sciences college of Bu-Ali-Sina university. Using ratio stratified sampling method about 94(81 male &13female) were selected as study sample.The data gathering instrument was researcher made questionnaire that its validity was reported as acceptable by specialist and its reliability using cronbach alpha coefficient computed equal to 0.874.The statistical method included descriptive statistic indices such as mean,standard deviation, percentage and one sample t-test.Findings showed that factors such as comparasing humanities with basic science,tendency to encyclopedi approach in humanities,the essence of humanities problems and standardization were the most important epistimological obstacles of theory making and contextual and local essence of humanities problem and pluralistic approach were less theory making obstacles.
