The comparsion of peak vertical ground reaction forces and leg muscles electromyography during single leg drop landing between men with genu varum deformity and normal knee from different height

Message:
Abstract:
the purpose of this study is to compare the peak vertical ground reaction forces and leg muscle activityduring single leg drop landing between men with genu varum deformity and normal knee from three heights. 22 male students in physical education and sport science participated in this research subjects were 10 people with genu varum deformity and 12 with normal knee. Genuvarum deformity was measured and recorded by a caliper. Subjects performed single-leg landing dropping from three height 0. 2، 0. 4،0. 6 m onto a force platform. Statistical analysis of data was performed via matlab version R2009a، spss and Univariate analysis of variance test (p) No significant difference was found in the peak vertical ground reaction during metatarsalcontact (P>0/05). However the peak vertical ground reaction force in calcaneus contact has significance difference (P <0/05). plantarflexors between groups had not significantly different precontact (p>0/05) but postcontact، medialisgastrucnemius had significant difference between two groups (p<0/05) and also each of the three variables were significantly different at three different heights (p<0/05). The higher rate of injury and osteoarthritis risk in people with genu varum in respect to normal ones might be due to higher ground reaction forces to the extremity during landing.
