Analysis of the Status and Authenticity of the Book "al-Tamhis"

Knowledge of the authenticity of the book which includes hadiths of the Infallible Imams, peace be upon them, has a direct impact on their importance. Mohamed Bin Hammam Askafi, the great Shia hadith scholar is a trustworthy scholar. al-Tamhis has been attributed to him. This book was not known before Allama Majlisi, but in the earliest document the name Ibn Hammam is seen. Some have attributed it to Ibn Shuba Harrani. Whether it is authentic or not? The author of the present paper tries to make an analytic introduction of al-Tamhis and pave the way for its authentication. He also comes up with some newfound data about Mohamed Bin Hammam Askafi and his book. New findings consist of topics such as attribution of the book to the author, status of the author and applicability of narratives of al-Tamhis.
