Analyzing the Ideas of Naghib Alattas on Islamicization the Social Sciences

The purpose of present study is analyzing the ideas of naghib alattas on islamicization the social sciences. naghib alattas is one of the pioneers in knowledge islamicization idea in second half of 20 century. the present article intends to evaluate the process of actualizing the Islamic social sciences from view point of naghib alattas.

The method of the study is library and philosophical analysis method.

The results of the survey indicate that: 1-alattas, s opinion is not limited only in purification, edification and accomplishment of existing sciences but it also includes two processes of purification and accomplishment of existing sciences and production of modern sciences based on Islamic principles and methodology. 2-the methodology of actualizing the Islamic social sciences from view point of naghib alattas includes a combinational method (individual reasoning and judgment, intuitive, rational and empirical), islamicization of studies and using commentary, exegesis and interpretation in studying the human and natural phenomena.

The author of the article concludes religious model of alattas in sciences intends to develop islamicization in fundamentals and methodology but there are some ambiguities in this way. The pathological aspects of his methodology are as follow: ambiguity in combinational method; excessive emphasis on islamicization of language in developing Islamic sciences; mystical aspect of commentary interpretation method which is not practical in scientific knowledge production.
