Abstract:
Background And Objective
ACL is one of knee’s most important stabilizers. Since the rupture incidence of ACL is relatively high in athletes, its reconstruction is critical. In this study, we examined the short-term results of arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with using four-layer hamstring tendon auto-graft. Subjects and Methods
In this study, 74 patients with anterior cruciate ligament rupture who had been operated over a three-year period in Emam Khomeini Hospital, Ahvaz, Iran using reconstruction with arthroscopic four-layer hamstring tendon auto-graft., went under evaluation with LYSHOLM knee scale. Results
Patients comprised of 70 men and 4 women with a mean age of 29.9 years. In 39 patients, left knee and in 35, right knee was involved. Patients’ LYSHOLM mean score on last visit was 96.66±9.69 of which 1 patient (1.4 %) were categorized as poor, 3 patients (4.1%) as fair, 12 patients (16.2 %) as good and 58 patients (78.4%) as excellent. Conclusions
arthroscopic reconstruction of ACL Ligament using four-layer hamstring tendon is a convenient and low-risk treatment in ACL reconstruction, which can largely restore knee sustainability after ACL reconstruction. LYSHOLM scale is considered us a useful technique in evaluating knee function in patients after reconstruction. Keywords:
