Organizational Culture and Knowledge Sharing Among the Faculty Members of Medical Science Universities and Research Centers

Abstract:
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the state of knowledge sharing among medical science academics as well as the relation between organizational culture and knowledge sharing in a "soft" setting.
Methods
Statistical population consisted of 423 faculty members of medical research centers and 12423 faculty members worked at medical universities in Iran during 2012-2013. Conducting a stratified random sampling, 423 faculty members were selected to answer a questionnaire. Face and content validity were confirmed by experienced experts. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each scale dimension was greater than 0.9, so the reliability of the instrument was confirmed. For data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics, statistical software SPSS15, Amos Graphics and Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used.
Findings
Organizational culture 13% of respondents view the knowledge sharing appropriate, while 48% consider it less appropriate.
Conclusion
Organizational culture significantly conditions internal and external knowledge sharing.
