An Analysis of the Impacts of Organizational, Demographic and Environmental Factors, on Ethics in Information Technology

Nowadays, the increasing growth of information technology and the Internet has caused more welfare for human beings, but at the same time it can be a threatening element as well. The exclusive features of information technology such as the speed, ease of access and use, low cost and anonymity in the virtual world have led to the emergence of new issues concerning the proper kind and method of using information technology and its various aspects. Non- observance of morality in using information technology has caused a lot of unethical phenomena. Considering the increasing growth of the information and communication technologies, there has always been agap between the development of information technology and the growth of moral virtues.Thus, it is essential for the information technology to let the ethical teachings grow so that a harmony between the two is achieved. The study is an applied one from the viewpoint of the objective and is a descriptive-survey study in method. Since the data is gathered through distributing questionnaires, the research is classified under field studies. The analysis of the findings of the study and the confirmation of the pattern used in it, are done by developing structural pattern equations. The pattern, based on the collected data, has appropriately met the criteria of proportion. There is also an appropriate level of meaningfulness among the components of the pattern and the correlation between the variables of the pattern is also acceptable. The research suggests that organizational and individual factors directly and environmental factors indirectly impact on ethics in information technology.
