The relationship between the co-authorship metrics and the share frequency of Iranian's Library and Information Science faculty members in writing Persian journal papers

Collaboration for producing scientific works is an effective factor in individuals’ research outputs. Based on this hypothesis, current research aims at determining the relationship between the co-authorship metrics and the share frequency of Iranian Library and Information Science faculty members in writing Persian journal papers.Methodolog: The type of the research is descriptive and uses document analysis method for data collection and analysis. The study on the co-authorship is based on metrics for social network analysis. In October 2013 the search for the names of 192 Iranian Library and Information Science faculty members in MAGIRAN database resulted in 1469 distinct papers. The share frequency and the co-authorship matrix were also determined by RavarMatirx. The network metrics were obtained through UCINET. The collaboration map was draw by NetDraw. Findings show a logarithmic correlation between the authors’ share frequency and their ranks among the members of the co-authorship network. Findings also show that there is a negative log-log relationship between the density of the authors’ ego networks and their share frequency in producing Persian journal papers. This means that increasing in the number of individuals’ papers leads to decreasing the density. The other finding revealed a positive Pearson relationship between the authors’ degree centralities and their share in producing papers, so that adding one person to an ego network statistically increases 0.9 papers in his/her share frequency. Authors with more shares in papers’ authorship have big and low density ego networks and collaborate with persons who have small ego networks.
