The Effects of Anglo-Iranian Oil Company Activities on Economy, Development and Culture of Ahwaz

This paper studies the changes took place in the economy، development and culture of the Ahwaz population، as the result of Anglo-Iranian Oil Company oil drilling operations. Method/Research Design: The research data is gathered from library and archive resources. Findings and Drilling and extraction of petroleum by Anglo-Iranian Oil Company resulted in less agriculture and more shop keeping among the populations، the construction of new houses، an electricity plant، an airport، a few movie theatres، a club and a hospital. Also، some English words entered the vocabulary of the people.
