Study the efforts if municipality in creating spaces for citizens parks and its effects on the sense of social security. Case study: lavizan and police parks

This study is conducted with the objective of investigating the relationship between establishing parks and citizens feeling of being secure. Regarding to the assumptions of researcher in this field, there is a positive relation between beautification of parks in urban areas and increase offeeling security among the parks visitors. The theoretical framework of this research is based on theories of; defensible area theory, crime prevention through environmental designtheory, broken windows theory and the theory of social control. In order to achieve a representative sample, the considered sample size was 300 person and 150 questionnaires have been completed in each park by the park visitors. Judgmental sampling method was used regarding the structure of considered population. The most important analytical results of this study are: There is a significant relationship between park beautification and the feeling of insecurity among the people. There is a significant relationship between park beautification and the amount of social investment. There is a significant relationship between the beautification of parks and the evaluation of the crime incidence. There is a significant relationship between park beautification and the presence of people in the parks. These findings are in line with the assumptions of the theory of broken windows theory is defensible space.
