Evaluating the success of user tasks associated with bibliographic families based on FRBR conceptual model in library software

Abstract:
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to improve the user's (general and experts in the field of Persian literature) search results using bibliographic families based on Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) in two library software, one having bibliographic family search limitation feature and another fail to have this.
Methodology
Experimental method is used to evaluate user's success through a self-designed experimental database about the members of the two bibliographic families of Sa’di’s “Bostan” and Khayyam's "Rubaiyat" by conducting semi-structured interviews and observing user’s information seeking behaviors in two library software (Simorgh and Rasa) as well as completing checklist.
Results
According to the results Simorgh software success rate succeeded Rasa in supporting the four user tasks (finding, identifying, selecting and obtaining).
Conclusion
Both Simorgh and Rasa library software can improve their search features by supporting user tasks.
